Candidates vow to support elected leader

Presidential candidates Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Jusuf Kalla pledged at the end of their debate Thursday to support whoever wins the election on July 8.The other candidate, Megawati Soekarnoputri, looked reluctant to accept a defeat, saying she would continue to “serve and struggle with the people”.
Yudhoyono said he would congratulate the winner and ask his constituents to support the elected leader.
“I will do whatever I can contribute to the country and support the elected leader.”
Kalla said he would respect the elected president.
“The best [candidate] will win the race. I will respect whoever is the best, including myself.
“But if I am not the best, I will return to my hometown Makassar, South Sulawesi, to develop education, mosque and peace in the country.”
