Ten Sumatran governors have pledged to restore forests and promote environmental sustainability, advocating for integrated spatial planning on the island. The governors signed an agreement Friday to protect Sumatra's ecosystem and depleted forests.

As part of the agreement, the governors will restore damaged forests and protect existing forests and the sensitive ecosystems across the island. They will also offer incentives to encourage local administrations to implement nature conservation programs.

As I read this article, I started to think Indonesia was on the right track.

Deforestation is a hot item these days, not just domestically but on a global scale. Palm oil is becoming an increasingly demanded product worldwide, and countries are turning to Indonesia for their top-grade exports.

Why? Because Indonesia is the world's number one palm oil producer! Everyone seems to talk about Malaysia's palm oil because it's more "durable", and say Indonesia has made a big mess out of the industry. I think that Indonesia is in fact doing better and better.

What the big bosses around the world do not seem to understand is that Indonesia has a population of around 220 million people.

This means that changing rules and laws is not that easy. But it is still happening.

To cut a long story short, I think Indonesia is a great country and they are doing very well. I work in a palm oil processing plant in Holland (a Malaysian company). Indonesia keep it up!
