A team of search and rescue workers, along with members of the National Commission on Transportation Safety (KNKT), have been deployed to the crash site of a Avia Star Airlines Twin Otter cargo plane in Yahukimo regency, Papua.
The Papua Search and Rescue Agency said Thursday in a press statement that the team was deployed to a mountain slope in Tangma District, about 14 miles off Wamena, where pieces of the wreck were spotted at an altitude of 9,600 feet.
“We have yet to confirm the status of the plane's three crew, whether they are alive,” the statement said.
The cargo plane went missing just before its scheduled landing at Wamena airport, Papua, on Monday. (dre)
