SURABAYA: The 2009 Surabaya Pameraya Fair, which is being held from July 2-5 in the Gramedia Expo building, is aimed at improving public services and trading sector potential in the city.
Surabaya Mayor Bambang Dwi Hartono, who officially opened the fair Thursday, said he hoped the fair would manage to attract more visitors and be as profitable as last year.
Event organizer Dwi Susilowati said the fair was targeting transactions of up to Rp 10 billion, or double those of last year's Rp 5.8 billion.
The organizer is optimistic the target will be reached as the Indonesian economy is in a relatively stable position in comparison to other countries still suffering from the global financial crisis.
Ten regencies and cities, and 10 state-owned companies are participating in the fair that features about 150 booths. -JP
