Fire destroyed dozens of homes last night in a neighborhood in Pagaralam district, South Sumatra, though immediate reports suggest there were no injuries or casualties.
Bakti, chief of North Pagaralam district, told Antara news agency that the fire started at around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday and quickly spread.
Within minutes dozens of homes, largely made of wood, were engulfed in flames.
Firefighters arrived within half an hour but were unable to save the houses. By early Friday morning, they were still working to put the blaze out completely. (dre)
