JAKARTA: The government has temporarily suspended the director of the state-owned electricity firm PT PLN, Hariadi Sadono, following his arrest by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
"As of June 24, the Office of State Enterprises has temporarily suspended Hariadi Sadono.
"He will be reinstated or given another position in the company if he is found not guilty," PLN president commissioner Al Hilal Hamdi said in a text message Thursday.
As PLN's director, Hariadi was responsible for overseeing electricity supplies outside of Java and Bali.
He has been named as a suspect for his alleged role in a corruption case involving a Rp 80 billion project.
He was arrested by the KPK on Wednesday. Al Hilal said that PLN's director for Java and Bali, Murtaqi Syamsuddin, would temporarily replace Hariadi. - JP
