JAKARTA: The City Police will launch a new online registration system to tackle auto theft and the distribution of stolen cars using fake police registration letters, a traffic division officer said Thursday.
Adj. Sr. Comr. Teddy Minahasa said the online system would allow the police to share data on stolen cars and registration letters recorded by the police in other provinces.
"Hopefully, the new system will prevent people buying stolen cars," he told detik.com, adding the system would begin in August, in five provinces including Jakarta. - JP
