JAKARTA: The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) questioned the president director of Bank Artha Graha International, Andy Kasih, on Friday in relation to a bribery scandal involving the election of the Bank Indonesia senior deputy governor in 2004.
"He was questioned as a witness in relation to four suspects: Hamka Yandhu, Endin Soefihara, Dhudie Makmun Murod and Udju Djuhaeri," KPK spokesman Johan Budi told reporters.
The suspects were allegedly paid to ensure Miranda Swaray Goeltom was chosen as BI's senior deputy governor.
Andy, who was questioned for about two hours, said nothing as he left the building. The bribery scandal came to light after the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) legislator, Agus Condro, confessed last month that he and several other politicians received 10 traveler's checks each worth a total of Rp 500 million (US$54,000) after voting for Miranda in the election. The traveler's checks were allegedly issued by the bank. - JP
