JAKARTA: Tebet Police arrested Friday two suspects allegedly involved in a series of robberies of taxi passengers.
The officers said they had to shoot the suspects in the legs because they were resisting arrest.
Ade, one of the suspects, said others were involved in the robberies.
"I'd borrow a taxi from my neighbor and pick up passengers. Then on an empty stretch of road, I'd pull over and say the car broke down or the like. My friends would then come by in a car and rob the passenger while I acted surprised and drove them around," he said as quoted by detik.com.
The other suspect, Datuk, is believed to use a similar method, but with a different gang. - JP
