ITB to investigate jockey ring

JAKARTA: The Bandung Technology Institute (ITB) is set to dispatch a special team to investigate an alleged role of nine of its students in a jockey ring, where *jockies' would sit in and do exams in the place of the real candidates, for an entrance test in a university in Makassar earlier this month, as reported by Tempointeraktif.com on Sunday.
The investigating team comprising three people would leave for Makassar this afternoon.
"The Rector of the Hasanuddin University will meet us on Monday," Nanang Puspito, one of the team members, said.
ITB Deputy Rector for studentship and alumnae, Widyo Nugroho Sulasdi, said that the team would also meet with the Makassar Police to ask if the students were syspects.
ITB Deputy Rector for Academic Affairs, Adang Surahman, said that he had confirmed that some of the jockeys were students of the university but he had yet to know from which faculties.
Adang said that the alleged participants in the examination fraud were considered to be very smart with a high index of academic performance. - JP
