Amusement park gives 50 percent discount to voters

Jakartans casting their votes in Wednesday’s presidential election will be able to enjoy a 50 percent discount on the entry fee at the Ancol Dreamland Park in North Jakarta on the same day.

Visitors just have to show their ink-stained fingers to officials at the entrance of three theme parks in Ancol – the Dunia Fantasi theme park, the Gelanggang Samudera oceanarium, and the Atlantis Water Adventure water park -- to get the discount.

Ancol president director Budi Karya Sumadi said the promotion was being held to show appreciation for Jakarta residents who vote.

“We held a similar promotion after the legislative elections in April. People were very enthusiastic about getting the discount, because we saw an increase in the number of visitors,” Budi said in a release sent to The Jakarta Post.

Ancol normally charges Rp 120,000 for entry to Dunia Fantasi, Rp 80,000 for Gelanggang Samudera and Rp 70,000 for Atlantis Water Adventure. An additional front-gate fee of Rp 12,000 per visitor is also charged.

On voting day, the park is expecting some 55,000 visitors.
