LRI president director Johan Silalahi said Tuesday the survey found that no
candidates would win the outright majority of 50 percent required to settle the
issue beyond doubt in Wednesday’s election.
“The survey found Yudhoyono and Kalla would win over 30 percent of the votes,
while Megawati Soekarnoputri and Prabowo Subianto would secure about 20
percent,” he said.
The think tank group published the result of its survey in several newspapers
on Tuesday.
The survey was conducted in 15 provinces, and targeting between 4,000 and
11,000 respondents.
“There would be a massive ‘political migration’ in several provinces that could
not be analyzed through a national survey,” he said, referring to swing voters.
He promised to close down the LRI if the election ended in one round.
Johan admitted his link to Kalla, but insisted the survey was funded by various
businesses, and not by Kalla alone. Johan chairs the Johans Foundation, a
strategic consultative company currently employed by Kalla.
