rm yourself with cash and credit cards and shop your way through Malaysia, during the country's current Mega Sale and you will be amply rewarded.

There are deals that would tempt even the most jaded shopper in the sale that ends on Aug. 31. Pay for your purchases with MasterCard at participating retail stores around the nation and stand a chance to redeem 100,000 ringgit worth of gifts and vouchers. The first 30 who charge up a minimum 2,500 ringgit can send their details via SMS to redeem a 250 ringgit shopping voucher. The highest-spending cardholder will qualify to send an SMS entry and win the Weekly Grand Prize shopping voucher worth 5,000 ringgit. For more information, visit www.mastercard.com/sea.

Think you can hold back upon arrival at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport or the Low-Cost Carrier Terminal? What if you were informed that by spending 250 ringgit and above at KLIA or LCCT you'll be able to redeem free vouchers from Malaysia Airports? Be forewarned, big spender! When you arrive and check into your hotel in Kuala Lumpur, quickly freshen up and hit the malls. Start shopping like you're paid to do so first, at the One Utama Shopping Centre in Bandar Utama, and spend a minimum of 100 ringgit in a single receipt or two receipts on the same day from participating outlets. Then answer three questions by solving a crossword puzzle and you'll be in the running to win two elegant Nissan Sylphy 2.0 worth 108,000 ringgit each! If you are not that lucky, don't be dismayed. Another 150 prizes are up for grabs, such as home theatre systems, laptops, massagers, mobile phones, gifts vouchers and shopping vouchers. For more info, visit www.lutama.com.

When you are done with the suburbs, move on to midtown Kuala Lumpur, where the Gardens upscale mall is located. Buy something from any of specialty stores here (excluding Isetan, Robinsons, GSC Signature and Red Box), and you may be among the lucky ones to have your purchase fully paid for by the mall's management. Moving on to the Pavilion mall, foreign tourists will get more shopping privileges at over 150 participating outlets with the Pavilion KL Tourist Reward Card in addition to the mega sale offers and various rewards.

From midtown to downtown KL, the busiest mall happens to be one of the oldest. The Sungei Wang Plaza, built in a typically 70s style, is anything but archaic. The mall has a spot-on pulse on the latest youth and yuppie trends, as well as the needs of the budget-conscious, as evident by the myriad of stores selling almost anything. Whether it's pricey and hip electronics and audio-visual equipment, novelty fashions (including Harajuku-inspired garbs and accessories) or the plain frivolous and useless trinkets and souvenirs, there's something for everyone.

Be prepared to get lost in the mall's confusing maze of corridors where rows of stores and kiosks are located. Spend a minimum of 100 ringgit in accumulated receipts on the same day at any outlet (except Parkson and Giant Supermarket) and you will be entitled to participate in the Shop & Win Lucky Draw in which you stand a chance of winning prizes like health products, air tickets to Europe and Jakarta, shopping vouchers and many more. The draw will take place on Sept. 6 at 11 a.m. The grand prize, however, is a Nissan Grand Livina 1.6 (AT)! For more info, visit www.sungeiwang.com.

To make your shopping trip to Malaysia even more convenient, AirAsia has taken a bold step by removing its administration fee. Effective since the end of June 2009, AirAsia passengers will now only have to pay air fares and airport tax with no add-on fees whatsoever.
