Presidential hopeful Megawati Soekarnoputri has denied she violated election regulations by appearing on a cooking show during the cooling-off period.
During a press conference at the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) building, Mega said that she had answered 18 questions, but refused to elaborate on them in detail.
“I told the Bawaslu that I did not violate the rules,” she was quoted as saying by
kompas.com.
Bawaslu member, Nur Hidayat, said that his office would examine clarifications from Mega and her running mate Prabowo Subianto and all evidence in the case.
Previously, the campaign team of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Boediono, reported to the Bawaslu that Megawati had breached regulations by inviting people to the cooking demo at her house on Jl. Kebagusan, South Jakarta. During the event, Mega and Prabowo shared their missions and visions to the participants and could therefore be considered as campaigning. (ewd)
