Husband attacks wife for preferring SBY

PEKAN BARU: A 30-year-old woman was slapped and strangled by her husband at their residence in Kampar, Riau, for preferring presidential candidate SBY during the presidential election. Local police are looking for the husband.

Kampar police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Muttaqien told The Jakarta Post that 35-year-old Abubakar attacked his wife Yusri Ani after she refused to vote for Jusuf Kalla prior to the election.

"He also threatened to divorce her," he said Thursday.

Abubakar also tried to seize Yusri's official invitation to vote and burn it along with his own invitation.

"But Yusri managed to seize back her half-burnt invitation form and went to an election station to vote," Muttaqien said. - JP
