Megawati, Prabowo to file report against KPU

The campaign team of presidential candidate Megawati Soekarnoputri and her running mate Prabowo Subianto will report the General Elections Commission (KPU) to the Elections Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) over alleged electoral roll fraud.

“We will report the KPU to the Bawaslu immediately,” Fadli Zon, the campaign team’s secretary, said Friday at a press conference in Jakarta.

He added the team had found evidence the national polls body had breached its promise to fix the electoral roll, which Megawati and Prabowo had complained about just two days ahead of election day on Wednesday.

Budiman Sujatmiko, from Megawati’s Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), said the campaign team had found irregularities in the electoral roll in 69 regencies and municipalities across six provinces.

However, he refused to identify the cities and provinces, saying the names should remain confidential, to avoid any attempt to destroy evidence. He said all the evidence would be revealed during an investigation.

“In Ciamis, West Java, for instance, we found many different names sharing a single ID card number. It also happened in many other cities. I wonder why such problems were spotted after we lodged our protest,” he said.
