TANGERANG: Indian national Tarungsing Seti, 29, and his driver, Roby, were killed Wednesday evening when the SUV they were traveling in rear-ended a truck on the Tangerang-Jakarta turnpike, in Cipondoh,Tangerang municipality.
Tangerang Traffic Police chief Insp. Firman Darmansyah said the Opel Blazer, with registration number B 2455 JA, was jammed to the back of the truck and dragged 50 meters before it caught fire.
Madroli, the truck driver, said the SUV had been in the fast lane before switching lanes suddenly and plowing into the back of the truck, with registration number B 9288 NM.
"After being dragged by the truck, the Blazer burned up. The passenger and the driver were both burned inside," Firman said, adding Madroli only realized what had happened after another motorist had yelled out at him.
The victims were sent to Tangerang General Hospital after a fire truck put out the fire.
"There's no suspect in the accident; we found the truck driver did nothing wrong," Firman said. - JP
