Your comments on the implementation of the presidential election and how Indonesian democracy fares in comparisons to other Southeast Asian countries.
The general election faces a lot of problems. The main problem is the data of the electoral roll has not been updated properly. Another problem is that the General Elections Commission (KPU) cannot work professionally. Members of the commission may be honest, but they cannot do their job. In connection with logistic distribution, they may have to involve officials from the Indonesian postal service.

This country will never be able to consider itself a true democracy until its citizens are freely allowed not to believe in a god. I would have posted this on the other page, but it is impossible to do so.

If the definition of democracy is free election and free press, Indonesia is at the top. But democracy is not just elections and free speech.

Election day in Indonesia is the key to the success and influence of Indonesia in Southeast Asia, but we must move forward with an honest and sincere attitude.

Sing tepo saliro! Those short words meaning tolerance have rung clearly all through my life; in fact the Pancasila, proclaimed in 1945, is indeed part of our Indonesian democracy.

Despite its shortcomings, such as the current unreliable electoral roll and corruption that can be found around the place, democracy in this country has certainly made tremendous strides in the past decade.
Indonesia is undoubtedly well ahead of all its ASEAN neighbors with regard to democracy.

Indonesia's democracy is now the most advanced and mature in comparison with the other ASEAN countries. We are the only country with free and fair elections bar a few technical problems. Do not believe we can only have a token democracy if we want economic progress. Let's prove we can have both! Indonesia's democracy is now the most advanced and mature compared to the other ASEAN countries.

Other countries needs to change the way they think about Indonesia. They need to start thinking of it as a normal country. Indonesia today is a stable, competitive democracy, playing a constructive role in world affairs. It is no longer in a state of profound flux and turmoil.
Indeed, we now know what Indonesia is probably going to look like over the next decade. Indonesia will be a middle-income developing country making slow headway lifting living standards.

We, Indonesians, have to be proud of ourselves, as we have conducted the presidential election in a democratic, just and orderly manner. Although the quick count results of all polling bodies indicate SBY-Boediono as the winners, our incumbent President has asked people to be patient, wait, victory or loss. If a losing contestant in spite of the people's choice declares the election results unacceptable, we should just ignore such a childish attitude.

Megawati should get real! She was not a democratically elected president and never will be. Our people is much smarter now.
