The government next year will boost the promotion of Indonesia's innovative products to attract investment and penetrate new export markets, a ministry official says.
"2010 will be a tough year. There will be competition in the global market to attract investment, so we need to introduce innovative products," Edy Putra Irawadi, deputy to the coordinating minister for the economy, in charge of industry and trade, said Monday.
He said the government would have difficulties penetrating new markets if it kept selling conventional products also sold by other countries.
Indonesia has about 100 products in the government's list that are categorized as innovative products that can be sold, including alternative medications and creative works, he added.
