SMS: SBY victory

A- A A+

Your comments on the landslide victory of incumbent President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in the July 8 election as shown by results of quick counts organized by a number of survey organizations.

It's great. The victory is not just for SBY but also for the Indonesian democracy. With regards to the several quick counts, I think it's normal in a democratic country, look at the United States and so on.

Indeed we did cast votes with our heart. The elected President and vice president are chosen by all Indonesians.

The losers shall accept their defeat and congratulate the winner. No need to blame others for losing the election.

Congratulations to SBY. May God bless you, May God bless Indonesia. Please lead this nation to be a role model in character and determination, unity and tolerance of differences and perseverance in difficult times.

Please keep the promise of our founding fathers that Indonesia is a Pancasila (state ideology) nation - Bhineka Tunggal Ika (unity in diversity). Keep moving forward toward a better Indonesia for generations to come.

SBY has been reelected because God granted him popularity. Actually he is not a brilliant President. JK is likely to be more capable than him.

People still prefer SBY as the President of Indonesia.

With more than 60 percent of votes, this victory is indeed a landslide for SBY-Boediono, our pride. Thanks to Sri Muljani, Mari Pangertu and the likes. Now, let us work together for our people, who deserve something better.

Merdeka!

We can expect a lot of good things. To those in the SBY team, hold your tongues. Congratulate SBY-Boediono. May God lead you both.

SBY deserved the victory after the attacks his two rivals made, which he responded to with patience and wisdom. SBY fits the RI number one position not only because of his programs but also because of his charismatic leadership.

His next step should be to establish a ministry for children. His government has to help children get a better education, particularly those coming from poor families.

Congratulations to SBY for his re-election. We have to honor the quick count results as they was carried out scientifically.

So the estimates are close to the real election results. In fact, the results shown by different quick counts are quite similar.

We hope all parties place the state's interests above any other interests.

I'd like very much to say my warmest congratulations for the victory of the incumbent, Susilo Bambang Yudhono and Boediono in the presidential election 2009.

You will lead the country for the next 5 years and you have a mandate from all Indonesian people to improve their welfare and give them a better future. Don't look down on the poor because they are your most valuable asset.

I think he'll win the presidential election because the quick counts normally have a very thin margin of error. Even the General Elections Commission (KPU)'s initial count shows stark points of above 60 percent as compared to the other two contenders of around 20 percent for Mega-Prabowo pair, and about 10 percent for JK-WIN pair.

Therefore, Jusuf Kalla congratulated SBY for likely winning the race this afternoon

Above all, he deserves that not because of being incumbent, but because of the real achievements his government has produced such as self-sufficientiency in rice to mention just one. This fact has made Indonesia becoming a member of Group 20 (G-20) a grouping of advanced and fast growing economies that met a few months ago in Rome.

In addition, amid the global economic downturn, Indonesia is the only one that has "survived" the crisis in comparison to other ASEAN or even Asian countries that suffered economic contraction of below minus 10 percent as experienced by Singapore, -6 percent by Malaysia, and -2 percent by Thailand, while Indonesia enjoyed a 4,3 percent growth in the first quarter of 2009.

Congratulations SBY, you are our national asset. Finally the people have spoken. It has been a while since we have had people like SBY who are recognized worldwide. What the country needs right now is stability and economic growth. Yes, he is not superman, but he has demonstrated efforts in reviving the country.

The landslide winning of SBY is indicating that Indonesians love stability in term of economy, social life and others aspects. Congratulations to SBY-Boediono.

Congratulations on your second term in office - I hope you will look at the current immigration policy on foreign men married to Indonesian Women.

Permanent visas for foreigners are very expensive, restrictive and makes it hard for me to live in Indonesia with my Indonesian wife. I would love to retire to my wife's village near Semarang, learning the language and culture before Allah calls time out. Anyway wishing SBY great success in the next five years of leadership.

SBY's victory was predicted long ago by various surveys, no surprise here. Parties must learn that not always the chairperson is the best to run for a job outside the party.

I like the result and it showed that Indonesian citizens now are careful enough to choose their leader.

As the three promised at the end of the last TV debate, now Megawati and Jusuf Kalla should accept the result with open hearts.
