An Indonesian patient, allegedly suffering from the H1N1 flus virus, died on Tuesday at Sanglah Hospital in Denpasar, Bali.
The patient, identified only by his initials SS, was admitted to the hospital early Tuesday but passed away five hours later.
The hospital's spokesperson Putra Wibawa said that the hospital has yet to determine the exact cause of death.
“We were just treating the patient for few hours in an isolation room for showing influenza-like illness. We have not received any laboratory results yet,” he said.
The patient's wife, Ely Renata, said that her husband had been suffering from pleurisy and had been treated at a private hospital.
“I was shocked over his death, and demand an explanation from the doctor,” Renata said.
She added that her husband had been working at carrier Lion Air as a mechanic.
“He went to Singapore twice or three times a month,” she added.
Thus far, the hospital is still treating six suspected H1N1 patients, three of whom are Australian. (ewd)
