The 2005 Aceh peace pact has provided inspiration for Sri Lanka when handling social reintegration issues after its 26-year war with the Tamil Tigers. The pact had encouraged the Sri Lankan government to "learn from and share experiences with Indonesia," on how to overcome problems in keeping peace.

This is nothing more than a PR stunt from the Rajapaksa brothers. Aceh never inspired these warlords to settle the ethnic and political problem peacefully. Rajapaksa brothers were however inspired by how the SLFP and UNP government managed to put down not one but two separated JVP terrorists campaigns via military means.

Indeed the peace process in Aceh was distinctly different to the Sri Lankan separatist war, therefore it is much easier for the Sri Lankan government to conduct the reintegration process than what the Indonesian government and the BRA did in Aceh, because the rebels had already been defeated.
Hence, the Sri Lankan government would be able to reintegrate the former rebels by carrying out both a job creation strategy and develop greater religious tolerance.

Visit Lombok-Sumbawa 2012--July 3, p. 4
West Nusa Tenggara's (NTB) Lombok and Sumbawa islands - renowned in particular for their marine tourism - look set to attract more visitors in the coming years, as they gear up for the Visit Lombok-Sumbawa 2012 campaign.
The Culture and Tourism Ministry's director general for marketing, Sapta Nirwandar, said that NTB province, located just east of Bali, would be the main focus of the ministry's tourism programs in 2012.

Mt. Rinjani is the second highest peak in Indonesia? That is not true! There are numerous peaks over 4,000 meters high in the province of Papua (Carstensz, Nggapulu, Trikora, Mandala etc.). Rinjani is more likely to be the second highest volcano in Indonesia.

I love Lombok, but the flights from Singapore to Lombok are always fully booked.

It has to be green development, and it has to be people-friendly tourism, especially to the locals. Learn from mistakes made in Bali!
