The government has deployed more officers to guard strategic economic locations following the bomb attacks on two hotels in Jakarta on Friday morning, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Sri Mulyani Indrawati said.
"The National Vital Objects Team has increased alert levels to prevent the obstruction of key sectors. These include energy, electricity and airports," she said in a press conference.
The government will ensure the flow of goods and the mobility of economic players are not disturbed by the negative perception resulting from the bomb blasts.
She said the negative sentiment in the stock market lasted only two days when Jakarta experienced a similar bomb attack in 2003.
"I believe it [the negative sentiment] will be temporary," said Mulyani.
Based on the government’s latest review, the stock index fell 1.22 percent in the morning session, while the rupiah slid a bit.
"We have managed to calm the market so the impact [of the bombs] will not be sustained," Bank Indonesia (BI) deputy governor Hartadi A. Sarwono said.
