Police in resort island Bali is intensifying monitor over chemical distribution following the deadly suicide bombings that hit Jakarta last week.

Denpasar City Police chief Sr. Comr. I Gede Alit Widana told Antara news agency Tuesday that he had deployed all his subordinates to intensify monitoring on shops selling chemicals.

“This measure is an anticipation against other terrorism attack after the hotel bombings,” he said referring to two suicide blasts that hit JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton hotels in Jakarta, which killed nine people.

During investigation of the deadly Bali bombing, which killed 202 people in  October 2002, police found that bomber convicts purchased chemicals such as calcium chlorate, sulfur and aluminum powder from a chemical shop. (dre)
