Jakarta administration to tighten ID issuance

JAKARTA: The Jakarta administration will tighten the Jakarta ID card issuance process to increase security in the city in the wake of the Mega Kuningan hotel bombings, an official said Sunday.

City secretary Muhayat said subdistrict heads should be more careful in issuing new ID cards.

"We ask all subdistrict and district heads to be alert in their areas," he said as quoted by beritajakarta.com.

"Subdistrict heads also have to be cautious of citizens applying for ID cards who are new to the area."

Muhayat also asked residents to independently guard their neighborhoods and look out for suspicious people or activities, especially if such activities were kept out of sight of other residents. - JP
