ndonesian amateur Benny Kasiadi displayed a consistent performance by scoring 2-under-par 70 on Saturday for an overall 5-under at the Indonesia President Invitational golf tournament at the Damai Indah Golf-Bumi Serpong Damai course.

Two other Indonesians, Burhan Bora and S. Sanusi had different results. Burhan shot 68 for 6-under overall, while Sanusi fell to 3-over, although he will have a chance to improve when he resumes play on Sunday for the remaining three holes. A lightning storm in the early afternoon forced a 4-hour delay, prompting 27 players to resume their rounds on Sunday.

By then Benny had completed his 18-hole play. The 21-year-old overcame the jitters from being caddied by father Kasiadi for the first time to make three birdies on hole 4, 8 and 18, an eagle on 6, a bogey on 1 and a double bogey on 15.

Veteran pro Kasiadi offered himself as a caddy for his son on Saturday's round after he failed to make the cut Friday.

"I feel a bit nervous as dad is caddying for me for the first time. Nonetheless, I enjoy his company. We laughed together on the course to ease the tension. He provided me with useful tips too," Benny commented on his 47-year-old father, who worked as caddy in 1977 before turning pro in 1984.

Benny aims to turn professional next year. "My personal target is to turn pro by January next year. I am looking forward to dad's recommendation for me to join the Asian Tour," he said.

Kasiadi expects Benny to be able to score a consistent 10-under before becoming professional. Benny scored 2-under to end up ranked in the 50s during the 2007 tournament.

"As I have reached 5-under on the third round today, I expect to add more unders tomorrow."

He is currently tied in 35th position with seven other players and said he would run for a place in the top 25 in the tournament. Gaganjeet Bhullar is currently leading the tournament with an overall 17-under.

Leading third round scores

199 - Gaganjeet Bhullar (Ind) 69-68-62
