The Legal team of presidential hopeful Megawati Soekarnoputri and Prabowo Subianto has found 28 million invalid votes in 25 provinces that possibly went to Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and his running mate Boediono during the presidential election.
One of the team members Arteria Dahlan said the invalid votes resulted from fraud in the election process.
“The modus operandi was votes mark-ups that benefited SBY-Boediono, fictitious polling stations and counterfeit C1 forms (a form detailing the results of the ballot's tally for party witnesses),” Arteria told tempointeraktif.com.
She said the team had also found a structural violation by the General Election Commission (KPU) for not upgrading the voters list.
“This can be seen from a number of cases on double identity in some areas. We also question why the KPU omitted 69 polling stations prior to the election,” she said.
Most of the cases, she added, were found in Central Java, West Java, North Sumatra and West Sumatra.
Head of the team Gayus Lumbuun said the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) had calculated that Mega-Pro should have won 38 percent, not 26.79 percent according to the KPU.
The team is scheduled to report all of its findings to the Constitutional Court on Tuesday. (ewd)
