A pair of Siamese twins died of vital organs dysfunction on Tuesday following four days of intensive treatment at Arifin Achmad Hospital in Pekanbaru, Riau.

The hospital's head of doctors’ team, Tubagus Odih said that respiratory devices had failed to support the twins' hearts and lungs, which had been functioning poorly ever since they were born.

“We did our best to better the vital organs performances but failed. The baby on the left side died at 1.33 a.m., while the other baby passed away two minutes later,” Tubagus said during a press conference.

He added that the Badrun-Nurhayati's babies were in critical condition five hours before their deaths due to respiratory disorders and low oxygen capacity.

The hospital's director, Yulwiarti Moesa said that Badrun had brought them to Puri Husada public hospital before burying them at Pelantar Raya village, Indragiri Hilir Regency.
