The Corruption Eradication Commission is summoning North Maluku Governor Thaib Armaiyn, over a major graft case involving illegal procurements of fire engines in several regions.
“He will be questioned as a witness,” said KPK spokesman Johan Budi, on Wednesday.
The anti-corruption body is also summoning the region's head of General Affairs and Equipment Bureau, Umar Hasan.
Thaib is scheduled for a questioning session on Wednesday.
Johan said that the result of Thaib's questioning would be used by the anti-graft body for a case against former Home Ministry director general Oentarto Sindung Mawardi.
The KPK has been expanding its investigation into corruption cases in which illegal fire engine procurements were made based on a circular issued by the ministry in 2003.
Former home minister Hari Sabarno issued the circular appointing a company owned by Henky Samuel Daud as the sole provider of fire engines for several regions.
In May, the KPK named Oentarto as a suspect. Oentarto drafted the circular and allegedly accepted Rp 50 million from Hengky. (dre)
