More than 60 percent of Indonesians surveyed recently were not in favor of any of the lawsuits filed by losing candidates Megawati Soekarnoputri and Jusuf Kalla at the Constitutional Court and believed the July 8 presidential election was fair and independent.
The Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) reported on Wednesday that 65.5 percent of respondents found the presidential election fair and honest, while 21 percent found few violations took place during the election.
“Some 8.8 percent of them said many instances of fraud occurred in the election,” said LSI senior researcher Burhanuddin Muhtadi, as quoted by Antara state news wire.
The LSI surveyed a total of 4,000 people in 33 provinces from July 18 to 24.
“And 2.1 percent of the respondents said the election was not transparent and fair at all, while 3.4 percent of them chose not to answer,” Burhanuddin said. (ewd)

Unfortunately, SBY's contenders do not quite believe in such survey. While it is fair for them to challange and demand correction of the inaccurate voter lists, polling booths insufficiencies in some districts and a number of irregularities, it is unfair to request for a second-round presidential election run-off, as it will cost this country trillion rupiah!
