JAKARTA: The Jakarta Police raided a tofu factory Thursday in Cipinang, East Jakarta, and seized formaldehyde that was being used as a preservative.
Jakarta Police deputy spokesman Adj. Sr. Comr. Mahbub said police had received a tip-off from people in the neigborhood about the factory's illegal activities.
The raid on the factory, located on Jl. Harapan II in the Cipinang Melayu Makasar subdistrict, netted a machine to make tofu.
"They've been supplying one of the more popular tofu brands to several markets in Jakarta for about two years," Mahbub said. - JP
