BEKASI: Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia Kojiro Shiojiri on Monday gave an honorary award to Brig. Gen. (ret) Sri Kusmarianty Jasril for her seven-year contribution to bridge cooperation between the Indonesian and Japanese police forces.
"I hope this award will prompt the Indonesian Police to build better relations with Japan and other countries," she told reporters after the ceremony at Bekasi Police headquarters.
Sri had spent 15 years of her last assignment at the National Police's international cooperation division. After retiring, she has continued to contribute to international police affairs. She has been a key figure behind the police technical advisory project conducted by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The JICA has been conducting community policing in Indonesia since 2002, with a pilot project at Bekasi Police. - JP
