Prita to file for judicial review upon court's annulment: Lawyer

Prita Mulyasari, the defendant in a widely publicized online defamation case raised against her by Omni International Hospital, will be filing for a judicial review to the Supreme Court in the matter. This followed the Banten High Court's decision to overrule her acquittal in the case.

"We will file a judicial review. We want to seek justice", commented OC Kaligis, one of Prita's lawyers, as quoted by kompas.com, on Tuesday.

Last week, Banten High Court ordered the Tangerang District court to reopen the case on the grounds that its verdict failed to examine and explicate the substantive material of the case.

Prita, a mother of two, was charged with defamation by Omni Hospital after she emailed her friends with complaints and criticisms of the subpar treatment she received while a patient there.

Prosecutors arrested her in May after the hospital found that her email had circulated across various mailing lists. (dre)
