SURABAYA: State railway operator PT Kereta Api's (KAI) Surabaya office said the launch of the train serving the Surabaya-Mojokerto route will be postponed due to a technical problem.
From trial runs, the office found a problem with the wheels of one of the five cars.
The wheels of the problem car were not balanced, which could endanger all the cars and the passengers aboard.
Previously, the East Java Transportation Agency had plans to launch the new service in July, but has pushed the date back to mid August.
A spokesman from PT KAI's Surabaya office, Sugeng Prijono, said the company did not yet known exactly what date the train, which has the capacity to carry 750 passengers, would be launched.
He said the office had completed the construction of eight stations along the Surabaya-Mojokerto route. - JP
