The Malaysian media has cast doubt over reports that Indonesian police have killed Noordin M. Top, the region's most wanted terror suspect and a Malaysian citizen.
Quoting Noordin’s family members and terrorist experts, the Malaysian media said the man killed in a farmhouse raid in the Central Java town of Temanggung last week was not the terror group leader, Antara news agency reported.
A representative of Noordin’s family, Badarudin Ismail, said the man’s fingerprints and face did not match Noordin’s. After seeing a picture of the deceased man, Noordin’s family members were unable to conclusively identify him.
The National Police is still attempting to ascertain the identity of the man, who claimed to be Noordin during a gun fight leading to his death on Saturday.
