The legal team for former presidential candidate Megawati Soekarnoputri has arrived at the Constitutional Court in Jakarta to hear the verdict in its case against the legitimacy of the July 8 presidential election.
The Court is due to read its verdict at 2 p.m. today. Megawati's legal team filed a lawsuit at the court to contest the General Elections Commission's decision to declare incumbent President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono the winner on the July 8 election.
"We hope the court would rule in favor of us as we have presented the evidence that supported our arguments," team member Budiman Sudjatmiko said.
Outside the Court, supporters from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) staged a rally to welcome their leader.
A man orating in the protest said "it would be a shame if the court did not issue a verdict that's fair."
The PDI-P supporters lament the rumour that Court Chief Mahfud MD met with Yudhoyono on Tuesday.
The Jakarta Police and the military sent 739 officers to stand guard at the Court.
