Yogyakarta reduce school hours during fasting month

The Yogyakarta Education Agency has decided to reduce school hours during the Islamic fasting month of Ramadhan.

Syamsury, head of the agency, told Antara news agency Saturday that the agency has also allowed schools to hold religious activities during the fasting month, which is expected to begin at the end of August.

“But it is expected that those activities do not disturb the teaching-learning activity at respective schools,” he said.

Syamsury said the hours cut decision apply for both state and private schools.

The decision will each 45-minute teaching hour to 30 minutes.
