Palembang air polluted

A- A A+

Air pollution in Palembang has exceeded the acceptable standard, says a government official.

Head of management and supervision division at the Palembang environment agency Novran said Thursday the dust particle level at Charitas Hospital and Jl. Kapten A Rivai intersections exceeded the normal limit of 150 micron.

He blamed vehicles at the two intersections and the dry season for the high level of dust particles.

"This high level of dust particle can cause acute respiratory infections," he said.

He added that the levels of other components such as Sox (Sulphur Oxide), and NOx (Nitrogen Oxide) remained normal.
