AKARTA: Investigation of an alleged graft case at the Health Ministry would not stop at last week's arrest of former minister Ahmad Sujudi over alleged corruption of health equipments' procurement in 2003, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said Sunday.
Along with Achmad's case, the KPK is also investigating two other graft cases in the procurement projects using 2006 and 2007 state budget at the ministry.
So far, the KPK have named former bureau head for planning at the ministry Mardiono as a suspect in 2007 state budget case, which has caused Rp 4.6 billion in state losses. The commission has yet to give details for the 2006 case.
Ahmad was arrested on Friday along with former director of PT Kimia Farma Trading Gunawan Pranoto and director of PT Rifa Jaya Mulia Rinaldi Yusuf.
Ahmad is detained at the Cipinang Penitentiary in East Jakarta while Gunawan is at the East Jakarta police's detention center. Rinaldi was sent to West Jakarta district police's detention center.
"They all will be charged of violating Article 2 on enriching oneself, other people or a corporation and Article 3 on abuse of authority with the 1999 Corruption Law," KPK spokesman Johan Budi said.
The three suspects allegedly cooperated to mark up the project to a total budget of Rp 190 billion.
During the investigation Ahmad had returned Rp 700 million (US$69,800) of the Rp 71.3 billion state loses caused in the health equipment procurement projects.
The graft commission had so far received Rp 10.2 billion of money returned by health ministry officials related to the 2003 graft case. - JP
