More hot spots detected in South Kalimantan

BANJARMASIN: South Kalimantan administration has detected 376 fire hot spots in the province, an increase from 270 detected earlier in the month.

The head of the province's forestry agency, Suhardi Atmoredjo, told Antara news agency that most of the hot spots were on plantations.

The agency estimated that the hot spots cover 230 hectares of plantation land. The administration has been warning farmers not to clear land by burning forests during the current dry season. - JP
