President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will fly to the United States in late September, but will not attend the UN General Assembly Meeting because it will coincide with the Idul Fitri holiday.

State Secretary Hatta Radjasa said here Thursday the President would attend the G20 Summit in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Sep. 24-26, to be hosted by US President Barrack Obama.

Yudhoyono will then attend a business gathering and deliver a speech at Harvard University.

"The President will deliver a speech at Harvard University on Indonesia; on its progress and future etc. Then we will visit a renewable energy facility," Hatta said after a meeting to discuss the President's preparations for the G20 Summit.

He said, however, that Yudhoyono could not possibly attend the UN General Assembly Meeting, which would take place in New York from Sep. 23 to 30.

"The timing is not right because it will coincide with Lebaran [the Idul Fitri holiday – due to fall on about Sep. 21-22]."

Hatta said the President might also conduct bilateral meetings with leaders of other countries, but not ones scheduled to attend the meeting in New York.
