Search continues in Banjarmasin river boat accident

Search workers continue looking for 21 people who went missing in a passenger boat accident in Negara River in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan last night.

“We are yet to have divers in the search,” said Sugiri, local chief of disaster management team, told tempointeraktif.com on Saturday.

Local police chief Second Insp. Rizqi Maulana said the boat sank at around 8 p.m. on Friday. It was estimated that 132 passengers overloaded the boat, which only have 45-passenger capacity.

Some 110 passenger survived the accident and one was found dead.

Rizqi said the police has arrested the boat captain for investigation.
