AKARTA: Six hundred soldiers will be sent Wednesday to safeguard PT Freeport Indonesia's copper and gold mining site in Tembagapura, Timika, Papua, a military commander said Monday.

Cendrawasih Military Commander Maj. Gen. Ahmad Yani Nasution said police had asked for the reinforcements.
