JAKARTA: What’s in a name? For pop band Peterpan, it means nothing at all that they will change the group’s moniker starting next month.

“Our [music] concept remains the same. We try to keep our character. What is changing is only the name,” said Mohammad Kautsar Hikmat or Uki, the band’s guitarist.

The group has yet to reveal the new name they have chosen.

“We will also try to be more careful in the future,” Uki added, as quoted by newsportal kapanlagi.com.
What does changing the band’s name have to do with being careful?

It seems that the story behind it has to do with property rights over the name “Peterpan”, which also belongs to former band members Andhika and Indra who left the group.

“According to our old contract within the band and with [recording company] Musica, the name Peterpan could no longer be used since the band lineup changed,” said group vocalist Nazriel Ilham, popularly known as Ariel.

The group said that its new name would be announced at the launch of their new album in October. — JP
