Officers from Cibitung Police station shot dead two motorcycle theft suspects in Cikarang Barat, Bekasi, West Java, police said on Monday.
Jakarta Police spokesman, Sr. Comr. Chrysnanda Dwi Laksana said that police shot the criminals Sunday night after they ignored the police's warning.
"Officers had fire into the air twice but they kept running," he said.
One of the suspects died on location while the other passed away shortly after arriving at the Bekasi Public hospital. "He survived the shooting and kept running. But he seemed to lose consciousness due to his wound as he then passed out and plunged into a small river," Chrysnanda said.
He added that the police had hunted down the suspects after receiving several motorcycle theft reports from around Cibitung during the past two weeks.
The police seized two motorcycles, a Honda Revo and Yamaha RX King, as evidence. (bbs)
