The Indonesian Green Building Council on Wednesday released guidelines to measure the degree of a building’s adherence to environmental conservation standards.
The guidelines, referred to as “Greenship” are intended to help people assess how environmentally friendly a building is based on, among others things, its indoor air quality and energy-saving capacity.
"Many developers claim to have built green buildings, but do not have the standards,” the council’s head, Naning Adiwoso, said.
The launch marked the incorporation of 21 companies into the Indonesian Green Building Council's (GBCI) list of founders.
The list includes property giant PT Summarecon Agung Tbk and state electricity company PLN.
"Those behind the buildings are big developers," BGBCI coordinator Mardjoeki Atmadiredja said. "We must convince them to construct green buildings." (dis)
