Residents of Palu, Central Sulawesi, are having to deal with more frequent power cuts recently, with the local office of state-owned electricity company PT PLN yet to finish repairs of broken generators.
“Last week, we had a four-hour blackout every night, but in the past few days, we’ve been having two blackouts -- each lasting around six hours,” Edy Frijot, a resident of South Palu, told Antara on Wednesday.
PLN Palu spokesman Walasary said the company did not know yet when it the repairs of two diesel-fueled generators would be completed at its Silae plant.
Blackouts have been a regular occurrence in the past two months, affecting the 170,000 residents of Parigi Moutong, Sigi, Donggala and Palu. (dre)
