President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono plans to visit Kuala Lumpur to meet his Malaysian counterpart Najib Tun
Razak in early October, the Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia said Friday.
“The President has spoken to the Malaysian Ambassador [to Indonesia] about the visit and Kuala
Lumpur is offered a date of Oct. 9 for the two leaders to meet,”
Indonesian Ambassador Da'i Bachtiar said in Kuala Lumpur, as quoted by state news agency Antara.
Da'i said that food security, regional security and terrorism were among the
issues to be discussed.
However, he said there is the possibility that issues of cultural claim would
be discussed. Da’I was referring to a spat between Jakarta
and Kuala Lumpur
over incidents of alleged cultural “theft.”
The latest incident came earlier in the week when a group of nationalist set up
a road block in Central Jakarta looking for
Malaysians to “sweep” out of the country. Yudhoyono called the actions of the
group “excessive”.
