Bukittinggi mayor to visit Perth to talk the talk

Bukittinggi (West Sumatra) Mayor Djufri flies to Perth, Australia, on Sunday to lead a goodwill delegation to explore possible cooperation in teaching Indonesian at schools in the Western Australian capital.
The six-day visit was aimed to help build the capacity of Western Australia's schools in language instruction, Gusrizal, a language teacher and member of the delegation, said on Friday.
"Thousands of Australians are interested in learning Indonesian," Gusrizal said.
He added that Indonesia needed to seize this opportunity to help promote greater contact between the peoples of both countries.
The trip is a follow-up from a visit by 21 language teachers from Western Australia to Bukittinggi in April, 2009.
The delegation will meet with officials of the Western Ausrtalian education office and visit Margaret River High School, whichhas an Indonesian language program.
