Corruption Court Bill could stop all fights against corruption

The Corruption Court Bill, should it be passed into law, could stop all fights against corruption, a legislator says.
"The spirit of this bill has been deviated. Therefore, our faction along with the National Awakening Party (PKB) faction demand that President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono revoke this bill," Nasir Djamil from the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) faction told reporters in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Nursyahbani Katjasungkana from the PKB faction said the bill’s deviations could weaken the authority of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
"First, the government wants to establish corruption courts in every province. Second, an idea to change the judge composition also emerged. This has nothing to do with the original mandate of the Constitutional Court about the establishment of the Corruption Court," she said.
"Third, some also want to remove KPK’s authority to wiretap. That is the domain of the Anti-Corruption Law, not the Corruption Court Bill," she added.
